The Hebrew word used for their fall is вЂњkashalвЂќ which means to waver through weakness of the legs, especially the ankles. They are guilty before God and their unrepentant state means they are living in condemnation. The wicked are вЂњrasha,вЂќ those who are morally wrong, actively bad people. However, the fall of the wicked is much different. Basically this means that righteous people can and will experience troubles. The word used to describe when a righteous person falls is the Hebrew word вЂњnaphal.вЂќ Naphal means a great variety of things including to be judged by mistake, to be overwhelmed, and to have an inferior inheritance (to be done wrong). Living by faith doesnвЂ™t mean weвЂ™ll never have problems. The righteous are the just that is, those who live by faith. ItвЂ™s good news to know that thereвЂ™s a difference between the righteous and the wicked. Proverbs 24:16 clearly states, вЂњFor though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamityвЂќ (NIV).
